The process of getting married in Cyprus varies for residents and non-residents. This section will focus on the procedure for residents who wish to register their marriage in the Republic of Cyprus.
Residency of Cyprus refers to individuals who upon arrival have been residing in the country for more than 90 days and possess a valid residence permit, these can be in the form of a work visa, student visa, recognized refugee, visitor or temporary residence permit.
To register a marriage in Cyprus, the resident must first obtain a Non-Impediment certificate from the local authorities. This can be acquired by registering at the civil registry office and presenting a valid residence permit.
The process for registering a marriage in Cyprus for residents involves the following steps:
Consultation – Rideo Group’s civil marriage coordinator will gather all the necessary information, issue details on any additional documentation, advise of the possible options and inform of the expected time frame for the process.
Document collection – The basic package of documents required for each spouse which includes passports, certificate of divorce (if applicable), certificates confirming that each applicant is not currently married and advice on the legalisation requirements for the documents.
Application submission – Our company will arrange an appointment for submitting the documents to the Migration office. Applications are usually processed within 2 weeks but can take up to 3 months, depending on the type of residence permit held by the applicant.
Approval – After obtaining the Non-Impediment certificate, we will submit it, along with the standard package of documents to the Municipality who will register the marriage and then proceed to schedule the ceremony. Approval typically takes 2-3 days.
Marriage ceremony – Our civil marriage coordinator will accompany applicants to the Municipality, where they will be required to sign all necessary documents, verify personal information and proceed with the ceremony.

Rideo Group often receives enquiries from people that have work or student visas and want to get married in Cyprus, the simple answer is yes, but the procedure is slightly different, which we will proceed to explain.
