Getting married in the Republic of Cyprus requires each person to submit a number of documents, a guide to what is required as shown below:
- Copies of valid Passports;
- Individual Civil Status – Original and true copy of the Ikhraj fardi for each applicant, valid for no more than 3 months from the date of issue;
- Family Civil Status – An original and true copy document for each applicant, valid for no more than 3 months from the date of issue;
- Divorce certificate if either person was previously married;
- Death certificate is either person was previously married and their partner died.
It should be noted that all documents must be stamped by the Ministry of Interior, legalised at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and at the Consulate of Cyprus in Lebanon. Following the marriage, the compulsory procedure of legalising the certificate must be done at the Embassy of Lebanon in Cyprus.
The process of obtaining and legalising the required documents may take time, therefore it is prudent to plan accordingly.
